How to Change Your Domain Without Losing SEO

Map every URL on the old site. Point a redirect at each one. Tell Google the address changed. Resubmit the sitemap. That is the whole procedure, and it works.

Done properly, done once, nothing drops. Rankings wobble for a few weeks. Then they come back, usually inside three to six months. The switch itself is routine. Search engines have followed this kind of move for twenty years, and they follow it well.

What Do You Need to Balance When Doing SEO?

A Calgary client asked this exact question last month, partway through his second month with us. He’d read a HubSpot certification guide framing SEO as one single balancing act. User needs on one side. Crawler needs on the other. That’s the textbook answer. It isn’t wrong. It’s just incomplete. Six separate tradeoffs actually sit inside that one big balance, and missing any of them stalls a site’s progress.

SEO Company To-The-TOP! walks new clients through all six before touching a single page. Skip that step, and a site optimizes itself into a corner. Rankings climb. Conversions flatline. Sometimes the reverse happens instead.

What Is Social Bookmarking in SEO and Does It Still Work

Reddit. Pinterest. Public platforms where people save a link, tag it, share it, sometimes upvote it. That is social bookmarking. This tactic used to sit at the core of link building. Not anymore. Its value dropped hard once Google’s early link-spam updates hit.

Digg and StumbleUpon defined an entire era of SEO once. Most of that era is gone. What remains still has a narrow, legitimate use.

    What Is Edge SEO?

Edge SEO means changing your website at the delivery layer instead of in the website. A rule sits on the network your domain points at. Your server sends the page it always sent. Then the rule rewrites the markup on the way to a visitor.

People reach for it because the ordinary route is slow. A canonical tag needs a developer. That developer has a list already. Your request joins the list, and months later the tag is still missing. An edge rule skips all of it. Titles. Redirects. Markup somebody would otherwise have to put in the code.

How Site Speed Affects SEO and Why Slow Pages Lose to Faster Competitors

Two directions at once. That’s how site speed affects SEO. Google factors it directly into rankings. Content that even loads gets abandoned by visitors first, dragging down every other signal Google reads afterward.

Both effects compound. Rankings and the visitors who do arrive both get lost to a slow page.

What Is Log File Analysis in SEO?

Every request to your website leaves a line behind. Your server writes it down without being asked. Log file analysis is the work of reading those lines to find out which pages Googlebot actually requested.

That is the definition. SEO people reach for it when the usual reports run out of explanation. Now the part nobody mentions. Most sites cannot run the analysis on the period they care about. That reason has nothing to do with skill.

How to Use Hreflang Tags for International SEO

An hreflang tag names two things. The language a page is written in. Then the country it was meant for. It can sit in the head of the page, or in your sitemap. An HTTP header works too.

That is the mechanic. It is written up properly elsewhere on this site, inside the international SEO guide. The code list is there. So is x-default. None of it gets repeated here.

    Do Facebook Likes Help SEO?

    No. Not one of them.

There is a better question sitting underneath, though. What is a like actually measuring? Answer that and you find out where the number belongs. Somewhere well away from your ranking report.

Do You Need Programming Skills for Machine Learning in SEO?

Nobody has ever ranked a page by training a model. Something ranked first. Then somebody built a model to explain why.

You do not need programming skills for machine learning in SEO. The reason is not that the coding got easy. It is that you probably do not have a machine learning problem in the first place.

Can You Steal Competitors’ Traffic on Organic Keywords?

That question comes up on almost every discovery call. Not always in those words. But the idea is the same. Someone ranks above you on the competitor keywords you want. Can you take that traffic?

The quick answer is yes. Straight follow-up is that it takes sustained work and realistic timelines.
