    Do Google Reviews Help SEO?

Three signals decide where a company shows up in local search: relevance, distance, and prominence. Ratings and feedback feed prominence directly. A shop with 80 fresh five-star ratings consistently outranks a competitor at the same address with 20 stale ones, all other signals being equal. Google confirmed this in its own Business Profile documentation, and the behaviour in the map pack matches the theory.

The question still comes up regularly in local SEO conversations, whether from an Abbotsford contractor chasing a competitive BC market or a Cold Lake shop competing for map visibility in a smaller Alberta one. Same answer both times. Google reviews help local SEO. Not in a vague “builds trust” way. In a measurable, repeatable way that shows up in position data month over month.

    What Is PPC Campaign Management?

Most business owners have a working picture of PPC: sponsored results at the top of the page, payment on the click, a daily budget capping the spend. That part is accurate. What actually goes into keeping those clicks profitable is a different conversation.

Every underperforming account we have reviewed had the same pattern: a solid launch followed by almost no ongoing management. The work that makes PPC profitable is not the setup, it is everything after. Bid adjustments, negative keyword lists, copy tests, landing page reviews. Skip that ongoing process and a well-built campaign slowly drains your budget, delivering traffic to your website that converts at nothing.

    What Is Video SEO?

We have seen Calgary businesses invest real money into video production, publish the result, and wonder why nothing happens in search. The video gets some views. Mostly from existing subscribers. No organic traffic. Nothing from Google.

The problem is almost never the video itself.

Is There an Age Restriction on Google Ads?

Two questions get bundled under that phrase. Who can run ads and who sees them. Both matter to advertisers running any type of campaign.

To-The-TOP! has been providing the Google Ads management Calgary businesses rely on since 2007. Age comes up often, in two ways. Some clients ask whether a teenage family member can still set up or manage the account. Others want to know whether their ads will reach people under 18. This particular question comes up often from businesses that recently hired a younger marketing assistant. Different questions, different rules.

    How to Improve PPC Performance

Most PPC accounts we audit share the same problem. Clicks are arriving. Conversions are not.

Budget depleted before noon, search terms full of irrelevant queries, Quality Scores sitting in the 3-4 range. Campaign structure looks fine inside the platform. The results say otherwise.

Do Low Search Volume Keywords Affect Quality Score?

Clients who come to us for Google Ads PPC management in Calgary ask this one regularly. They spot the “low search volume” flag on a keyword. Then they worry the whole account is being dragged down. That worry is misplaced. Longer answer is worth understanding, especially if your account has accumulated dozens of these sitting idle.

Low search volume keywords are not scoring badly. They are not scoring at all. That distinction matters more than most guides take time to explain.

Are Links Still Important for SEO?

Had a client come in last spring. Good site, solid business. Their search rankings had been stuck for months. We pulled the referring domain data and found seven sources pointing at their domain. Their top competitor had over 200. That gap told the whole story.

Backlinks still matter. They remain one of the strongest signals the algorithm uses. That signal has shifted over the past decade in how it gets read.

    What Is Keyword Intent?

Type a query and the real reason behind it stays hidden in the box. Keyword intent, often called search intent, is that reason. Someone searching “what is keyword intent” wants an answer right now. Type “keyword intent tool pricing” instead and the goal flips straight to buying software. Same topic, opposite goals. Get that wrong on a page and traffic bounces within seconds. Calgary SEO clients see it happen often. The content just answered a question nobody asked.

Google reads intent from the query itself. Ranking a product page against an informational search, or a blog post against a buyer ready to check out, rarely works. A client came to SEO Company To-The-TOP! last year. A service page was ranking on page four for a term getting real volume. The page was well written. It just answered the wrong question. Swapping it for a comparison-style piece, matched to what the SERP was actually rewarding, moved it to page one in six weeks.

What Is the Google Algorithm for SEO?

The first time a client called us after a ranking drop was spring 2011. Panda had just rolled out. They had no idea what hit them. Neither did most business owners watching their traffic disappear that month.

That call set the tone for how To-The-TOP! talks about algorithm changes. Not as abstract events. As things that move real traffic on real pages.

Why an SEO Audit Is Important (and What It Actually Turns Up)

Most site owners arrive convinced they need more content. Four audits out of five tell a different story.

The real blockers are usually already on the site: pages search engines cannot crawl, title tags written for an audience that doesn’t search that way, backlinks pointing to URLs that no longer exist. Adding more content on top of those problems compounds the waste, not the result. That is the straight read after running site audits since 2007.
