How to Beat a Large Company at SEO

You never beat the company. You beat one page it published, on one query, on one afternoon.

That distinction sounds like wordplay. It decides whether the SEO work is worth starting at all.

    How Content Marketing Helps SEO

Content marketing and SEO run in separate budget lines at most businesses. Sometimes separate agencies, separate teams, separate planning cycles. To-The-TOP! has been doing the SEO Calgary businesses rely on since 2007, and this split-resource problem still comes up regularly: one team producing material, another team chasing rankings, neither delivering results the other can use.

The reason they underperform in isolation is straightforward. SEO without content has no material to rank. Content without SEO has no signal structure telling search engines what it covers or why it should be trusted. Both strategies need the other to function.

How to Choose the Best SEO Company When WebpageFX Is on Your Shortlist

WebpageFX shows up on a lot of shortlists. It is one of the bigger names in the industry, and business owners researching SEO companies run into it fast. Comparing it against everyone else is the harder part.

That comparison gets easier once you know what actually changes at that scale. Team structure changes. Pricing structure changes. So does whoever actually touches your account week to week.

How Do I Get Rid of Google Ad Services?

You cannot. Nothing by that name sits on your computer. There is no program, no folder, no entry in your list of installed applications. Go looking and you will come back empty-handed.

That is the whole answer. The rest of this page covers why the question feels so reasonable. Then it covers what the same reflex costs you later, on a far more expensive SEO report.

Who Is the Best SEO Company for Your Business? Questions Worth Asking First

Someone asked me this last month. A plumber, three years with an agency in Calgary, rankings barely moved. He wanted a name. A recommendation. The best SEO company out there.

Nineteen years doing this, and the question still lands the same way. Usually after a bad experience. Often after a contract that delivered monthly reports without real results.

Why Does SEO for Personal Injury Lawyers Matter?

Personal injury law is where the referral model goes to die. Most practice areas sustain themselves on word of mouth for years. Personal injury is different. Someone gets hurt. They go straight to Google. The phone call to an old family connection comes after the search, not before it. Only if the search didn’t already surface something they trusted.

That’s the shift SEO captures. Not the client who already knows your firm’s name. The person who doesn’t know anyone types “personal injury lawyer” at 11pm from a hospital waiting room. Whoever appears credible on page one gets the call. Those clients exist in volume. The question is whether your firm shows up when they’re looking.

    Is Joomla Good for SEO?

Yes. Joomla will hand a search engine everything it asks for. Clean addresses. Editable titles. Redirects. A sitemap. Structured data, once somebody sets it up. Nothing about the platform stops a page from ranking, and plenty of Joomla sites rank today.

So the feature list is settled, and other pages already publish it properly. Which leaves the part almost nobody asks about. Not what Joomla can do. What it costs you to ask.

How to Create a Google Ads Account

The first Google Ads account I set up for a client was in 2008. Back then it was Google AdWords, and getting started involved a phone call. Today the process is self-serve, takes about fifteen minutes, and still contains a few decisions that cause problems down the road. Those are still worth slowing down on.

At To-The-TOP!, we have been managing Google Ads campaigns for Calgary businesses since 2007. Watching clients set up accounts incorrectly and troubleshoot months later is part of what shaped how we walk people through this now.

What Is PPC? Pay-Per-Click Explained for Calgary

PPC stands for Pay-Per-Click. It is the advertising model where you only pay when someone actually clicks your ad. Google Ads is the largest PPC platform, but PPC also runs on Microsoft Ads, Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok, and most other ad networks. If your business has ever bought a sponsored result at the top of a Google search, that was PPC.

Quick disambiguation: in Canadian search, PPC also returns results about the People’s Party of Canada. This article is about pay-per-click advertising, not the political party.

Quality Score in Google Ads: What It Is and Why It Matters

First Google Ads account I managed for a Calgary HVAC company had decent traffic but brutal cost per click. Quality Scores were sitting at 3 across most search terms. We tightened the ad groups, rewrote the copy to match what people were actually searching, and fixed the landing pages. Scores moved to 7. Cost per click dropped by roughly 40% on the same budget. No bid changes. That is the kind of lift a single metric can produce.

This metric in Google Ads runs on a 1 to 10 scale. Google assigns it at the keyword level, not the campaign level. The number multiplies against your bid in every auction and directly influences where your ad shows and how much you pay per click. Bid alone does not determine position. Your Quality Score is the other half of that equation.
